Nicaragua is a warm, tropical country. You must bring light weight, comfortable clothing. If you’re visiting the North region (Matagalpa, Esteli, Ocotal, etc.) or are planning to go up to one of the volcanoes, you must wear warmer clothes. Travel documents: Your passport, which must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of your arrival to this country. A visa is not usually required for most countries but you must purchase a Tourist card for US$5.00 dollars that you can obtain at the airport upon your arrival.
If you wish to prolong your stay in our country beyond the time allowed by your tourist visa, you may request an extension at the Immigration office in Managua.

Work Schedule:
Some governmental offices are open Monday thru Friday, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and from 1:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Private companies and banks share similar schedules and some are also open on Saturday until noon.
How to Get Around in Nicaragua: There is a wide selection of vehicles for rent to get you to most tourist attractions. To use public transportation is a great opportunity to explore and enjoy the Nicaraguan idiosyncrasy in urban areas or between cities and towns. At Lake Nicaragua and the San Juan River you will find ferry services and boats to take you different interesting places.
